A bunion is a bony bump that forms on the inside of the big toe joint. This can lead to a deviation of the big toe towards the other toes and can result in hammering of the second toe.
Bunions develop slowly and may make it painful to wear shoes or walk. Eventually, the bunion worsens and cause painful symptoms. Pain may be relieved by wearing shoes with wide toe boxes and avoiding pressure on the big toe.
Bunions may be managed without surgery, although this cannot really reverse a bunion. Avoid poorly fitting shoes, those that are too tight, sharply pointed, and those with high heels. These put more pressure on the feet and increase the likelihood of foot pain and injury.
For severe cases, surgery may be needed if you have severe pain and difficulty walking despite nonsurgical bunion treatments. There are different surgical procedures to fix bunions. However, most will involve a long and painful recovery.
Minimally invasive, scarless, Lam Modified Bunion Procedure can be done in the safety of the office surgical suite. This bunion surgery is virtually painless, cost-effective, and needs minimal recovery time.
