Today I was notified that it has been 11 years to this day that the Family Foot and Leg Center, PA opened our doors to the public. It has been a great 11 years, starting with modest beginnings to a thriving, growing practice. Our story started in a 3 treatment room office, when the waiting room was packed patients had to wait on the stairs outside to see us. I am very grateful for the patience of those early patients. I remember building every single computer from parts as that was my college hobby in order to save every penny to open a practice.
FFLC has seen its share of other doctors trying to take market share come and go as well as a frivolous lawsuits from competitors that have have been vindicated through the court system. Resulting in the other side and their lawyer being responsible for our court costs. Nice to know that particularly this competitor will no longer be able to harm FFLC’s reputation or the citizens of Collier County with their bold lies and allegations. My mentor has said when you are number 1, you’ll have a target on your back and this can’t be further from the truth.
Aside from pettiness of this particular person, the community as been great to the growth of FFLC. Just last year we added a training program for residency graduates to get an extra year of experience in advanced foot and ankle surgery. FFLC fellowship is on the top end of surgical experience for our fellows as far as reconstructive foot and ankle pathology is concerned via numbers of surgeries and quality and diversity of cases. We have won numerous to doctor awards with the help of our patients and out of area colleagues.
In reflection, the progress of FFLC throughout the years has been amazing and growth astronomical despite constant competition both good and parasitic type. We are fortunate to be able to offer any and all surgeries below the knee. Despite what some particular orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon in town want people to think, we do many complex foot / ankle surgeries and are the most efficient and proficient in such.
